During the recent unveiling of the Jeep Wagoneer S electric SUV, company leaders announced that they are developing extended-range versions of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer 4xe, featuring sizable plug-in battery packs while preserving the three-row configuration. With Jeep’s ambitious strategy to introduce mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, electric vehicles, and beyond, numerous vehicle configurations are possible. However, remarks from the executives suggest that the sequence in which these plug-in models are being introduced might not be optimal for every use case.
In a related update, the CEO of Stellantis, the company that owns Jeep, announced at an investor conference last week that an electric Jeep priced at $25,000 will be available in the U.S. in the near future.
U.S.-manufactured Hyundai and Kia electric vehicles are set to arrive at dealerships shortly, with the production of Kia’s EV9 in the U.S. having commenced just last week, and Hyundai’s first American-made electric vehicle being the Ioniq 5. However, it remains to be seen whether these vehicles will be eligible for the entire $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit.
