To answer your first question, I would recommend filtering through the news articles on the AI News Politics site. This will give you an idea of what is being talked about on the site. You could also click on the ‘Latest Stories’ tab and see what is happening there. If you click on the ‘Topics’ tab you can see what is being discussed on the site.
As to the second question, if you’re looking for methods of automated news analysis then you should look at NLU (Natural Language Understanding) and NLP (Natural Language Processing). There are a lot of resources on this subject so I suggest doing a Google search using these keywords.
